Restaurant Puk is a classic and historic Danish restaurant in the heart of Copenhagen. We are one of the oldest restaurants in the city with a history where herring, pork, and schnapps have been served since 1750.

In our kitchen, tradition, fine craftsmanship, and modern techniques come together. Here, the proud open-faced sandwich tradition is celebrated, enriched by the experience of our skilled chefs. There is room for old favorites such as roast beef with remoulade and traditionally aged herring, as well as one of our signature dishes, brisket with horseradish salad, leek, apple & rich gravy served on butter-toasted bread.

Since our restaurant opened in 1750, the motto has been that everything should be homemade and handcrafted. And it still is to this day. Just like the rye bread, the remoulade is carefully made from scratch with pickled vegetables. The dill cream has been developed to perfectly suit the herring, which is placed in a special vinegar brine to make the bones dissolve faster. We hand-peel our Greenland prawns boiled in seawater and bread our fresh plaice every morning, we use freshly dug seasonal potatoes and Danish asparagus, and many ingredients are selected and sourced from small producers.
